Most people think that marketing is only about the advertising and/or personal selling of
goods and services. Advertising and selling, however, are just two of the tools used for marketing activities.
In general, marketing activities are associated with identifying the particular wants and
needs of a target market of customers, and then going about satisfying those customers
better than the competitors. This involves doing market research on customers analyzing
their needs, and then making strategic decisions about product design pricing, promotion
and distribution.
Although marketing still needs sales to move forward, it's not the entire basis on which the marketing firm is built. Sales are a neccessary evil. Business cannot advance by just stating "what you do." No one wants to be that annoying person, but in today's market, if you don't
do something repetitious or outstanding, you may just get overlooked. Going above and
beyond is a type of outstanding marketing. It exhibits determination inventiveness and
energy. Success can be built off of a reputation of an outstanding marketing.
As stated before, sales are a neccessary evil, but it is not the entirety of the business. A
great deal of marketing is based off of research and analyzation. The combination of both research and sales can give a competitive edge over the rest. By pinpointing the target
market and giving outstanding service; you build a reputation. A reputation will show
establishment and trustworthiness. By being consistant you can build a foundation to
your service and keep clients coming back.
And isn't that what you really wanted in the first place?
